How we teach

Our learning approach

Learning here is planned but never rigid, and it meets each child where they actually are, in a calm room set up with care.

Our Approach

Inside the Classroom

Our approach draws from a range of respected educational philosophies, including Montessori-inspired learning, Reggio-influenced creativity, guided exploration, and nature-based experiences. This blended approach allows children to build independence, curiosity and confidence while engaging in meaningful, hands-on learning. We don’t follow any single method to the letter, because children don’t arrive as one type of learner, and the best of each tradition, used well, gives us more ways to reach each child.

What each strand contributes
Montessori-inspired learning fosters independence, practical self-care, and materials children can choose and return independently. so they learn to take ownership of their choices and build lifelong focus.
Why we blend rather than pick one
A purely single-method room asks every child to fit the method. A thoughtfully blended room does the opposite: it fits the method to the child by pulling the best tools from each approach to meet their unique needs.
A prepared, calm environment
However we teach, the room itself does a lot of the work.A calm, thoughtfully prepared environment, uncluttered shelves and child-height materials encourage independent choices and focused exploration. independent choices, focused exploration, and a natural sense of peace.

What makes it work

What educators plan each week

Educators thoughtfully plan weekly experiences that build language, literacy, early math, and problem-solving skills. These activities also incorporate science and nature, creative arts, physical development, and social-emotional growth. These areas are woven through the day so learning feels natural rather than scheduled or forced. A single afternoon of block play can carry math, physics, cooperation and storytelling all at once, and a good educator sees and extends every thread.

Movement, mindfulness and emotional growth

Daily routines also include movement and mindfulness, such as music, instruments, yoga and sensory activities, supporting focus, emotional regulation and self-awareness. We treat social and emotional growth as real curriculum, not as something that happens in the gaps. Learning to wait, to share, to name a big feeling and recover from it, these are skills we teach as deliberately as counting, because they are what let all the other learning happen.

A foundation for lifelong learning

Together, these elements create a calm, enriching early learning experience and a strong foundation for lifelong learning. We are committed to nurturing each child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth, while encouraging independence, creativity and kindness. By valuing family partnerships and celebrating diversity, we build a welcoming community that inspires confidence and a genuine love of learning, the thing that outlasts any single fact a child memorises.

Questions

Common questions

We are Montessori-inspired rather than a certified Montessori school. We blend Montessori methods with Reggio Emilia creativity, guided exploration, and nature-based experiences.

It means we apply core Montessori principles, like independence, self-chosen work, prepared materials, and quiet concentration, without claiming full Montessori accreditation.

Reggio Emilia focuses on creativity, self-expression, and child-led curiosity. In our classroom, this translates into hands-on art and projects based on the children's own questions.

Yes. Blending is an intentional choice to match the approach to the child. Our educators plan weekly activities with clear intent while staying flexible.

It is a mix of both. We maintain a predictable daily rhythm that gives children structure, while offering plenty of freedom to explore individual interests.

Yes. We build early literacy and math foundations through hands-on activities, sounds, stories, and counting, never worksheets or forced drills.

Social-emotional learning is central to our curriculum. We use music, mindfulness, and calm routines to help children recognize and regulate their feelings.

Yes. Outdoor discovery is a core part of our philosophy, and children go outside twice daily (weather permitting).

We share regular updates with parents so you can stay fully connected to your child's progress and daily classroom experiences.

Our small class size capped at sixteen makes personalized care possible. Teachers tailor activities to each child's development level rather than forcing one single pace.
